What's your perfect pitch for Synberc?

Elevator pitch gone well

Synberc held an elevator pitch contest where students were asked to create a short video with their perfect pitch on a problem or opportunity connected with synthetic biology -- one that would fit an innovative start-up project or company. From the submissions we received, the following winners were selected:

  • 1st place: Kat Tarasova, Lab of Kristala Prather, Using synthetic biology to modify farm animal gut microbiomes for more efficient metabolism of food

  • 2nd place: James Bevington, Lab of Danielle Tullman-Ercek, Antimicrobial Elastin For Joint Replacements

Antimicrobial Elastin For Joint Replacements from James Bevington on Vimeo.

  • 3rd place: Amanda Loshbaugh, Lab of Tanja Kortemme, A generalized strategy for engineering biology sense/response

Kat will be awarded a trip to Washington, D.C. on October 27-28 to pitch her idea in D.C. and compete in the national ERC “Perfect Pitch” competition for a cash prize of up to $5k. Synberc is also awarding Kat $150, Amanda $100, and James $50 for their excellent entries.
