The goal of SUPERB is to provide research opportunities
in engineering to students who have been historically underrepresented
in the field for reasons of social, cultural, educational or economic
barriers. The 8-week summer program provides students with the opportunity
to gain research experience by participating in research projects
with engineering faculty and graduate students. Upon completion
of this program students will be better prepared and motivated to
attend graduate school. SUPERB features regular workshops and seminars
on the nature of academic life, standardized test preparation, writing
and research skills and graduate school applications. Informal meetings
and social events with faculty and graduate students are also offered.
Application deadline:Late January 2008 (check website for exact
date).

The 10-week MSRP program is primarily designed to encourage
students from under-represented minorities, first-generation college
students, and students from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds
to attend graduate school and pursue a career in research, by providing
them the opportunity to do basic research in a top-notch research
institution, and in a supportive learning environment with plenty
of interaction with graduate students and faculty. This summer program
provides a unique opportunity for students who do not have access
to top-notch research facilities at their own institution to conduct
supervised research in state-of-the-art research facilities. Preference
will be given to applicants from non-research intensive colleges
and universities. Application deadline:Late January 2008 (check
website for exact date).
