Ginkgo, NEB jointly offer BioBrick Assembly Kit
In April 2009, Ginkgo Bioworks announced its first product in partnership with New England Biolabs — a BioBrick™ Assembly Kit designed to make part assembly a snap. The kit is specially designed for those who might be new to synthetic biology and BioBrick part assembly. The kit makes it easier than ever to assemble basic biological parts like promoters, terminators, coding sequences, and ribosome binding sites. The kit works with the first BioBrick assembly standard, compatible with over 3000 parts in the BioBrick registry, and allows researchers to use the same process to assemble any two BioBrick parts, without the need to search for conveniently located and interoperable restriction sites. “We’re especially excited to be releasing this product in partnership with NEB, a company with deep roots in the recombinant DNA technology that paved the way for synthetic biology,” says Ginkgo co-founder Reshma Shetty.
